I am travelling to Ethiopia in December, i already have the 7th edition.
Is there much benefit to buying the 8th edition?
    Thanks

      Hi Martina,
If you are mainly interested in general/background information, the changes between editions are not that significant. But if you are also depending on the book for practical travel info, then it is worth investing in the latest edition – myself & another updater collectively spent almost 4 months travelling to most corners of the country to update hotel and restaurant listings, refresh maps and so on, so all that is significantly more current than the 7th edition.
      Cheers, Philip

Another person and myself spent about three months combined travelling around all parts of the country to fact check and update it. Accommodation, restaurant and other listings, as well as maps, have been fully revised with the addition of new places, removal of those that had closed, or in our opinion down downhill, and all prices and contact details checked and changed as necessary. The structure has been significantly revised, and information about new or developing attractions such as Arsi Mountain National Park and Danakil added or expanded. So I would say it is very different, or at least as different as you would expect an edition separated by three years from the previous one to be.
