Ethiopia launches e-visas

Thanks to AddisAdvisor for alerting me to the excellent news that as of 12 June 2017, Ethiopia has introduced an online application process for e-visas for visitors from several countries.

The e-visas can be applied for online and paid for with a Visa, Master or American Express card at the website https://www.evisa.gov.et, which also has a useful list of FAQs and other information.

For single entry up to 30 days, the cost is US$52,  while for single entry up to 90 days, it is US$72, including a processing fee of US$2.

The service applies to tourist visas only. Business and other non-tourist visas must still be arranged through an embassy or other consular office.

Nationalities eligible to apply for e-visas are as follows:

Argentina
Australia
Austria
Belgium
Brazil
Canada
China
Czech Republic
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
India
Ireland
Israel
Italy
Japan
Kuwait
Luxembourg
Mexico
Netherlands
New Zealand
North Korea
Norway
Poland
Portugal
Russia
Slovakia
South Africa
South Korea
Spain
Sweden
Switzerland
Taiwan
United Kingdom
United States

It should be noted that we have yet to hear from anybody who has used this service, so we cannot as yet vouch for its reliability or how smoothly the process might go – all feedback to this effect will be welcome!

Used the service yesterday. Took 1 day to get a 90 day tourist visa. I also e-mailed them with a question and they got back to me in a couple of days. Seems like a good service.
