I just returned from a 3-week tour of Ethiopia. I organized it with just three of us through Aberus Ethiopian Tours (www.aberusethiopiatours.com). Its owner, Mohammed Nasir, is thorough and competent. He responded to all my questions and concerns, and absolutely everything went off wonderfully. All the guides and drivers were excellent and he and they all went out of their way to make sure we had everything we wanted. We toured the north first, including some drives, which were fabulous, and a couple of flights to get to Axum. Then we drove in the south, visiting the tribes. Mohammed was in touch with our guides every day, and he worked constantly to get us the best hotels and restaurants possible. This was not always possible due to the many tourists for January’s Timket festival, but he kept trying even while we were there. He also provides wonderful vehicles, which is especially important in the south, where some of the roads are bad and bumpy. This was simply an incredibly professionally-run trip. Mohammed does offer being your own private guide throughout Ethiopia, but due to the expense, we chose the less expensive local guides. Almost all were good. We did have Mohammed for our time in Addis Ababa. I want to return to Ethiopia and see more places and I will definitely use Aberus Ethiopia Tours again!
